Constarnach

From Bestiary of the Hypogriph

Template:Deity

Constarnach is the current elemental lord of air.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The White God resembles an enormous griffon with white feathers across his entire body, a large hooked beak and a long feathered tail. His legs end in nebulous clouds and mist, and he seemingly floats over any surface he 'lands' on.

History[edit | edit source]

Constarnach is the youngest of the modern elemental lords, though even then, he is believed to be older than Telamon's inception. It is said he ascended through the ranks of the air elementals by clashing against them in battles that shattered the skies of the Plane of Air, until he stole the divinity of his predecessor by tossing them into the heart of the Elemental Plane, utterly destroying them.

According to Constarnach, he is father of all griffons and hippogriffs. As these creatures are not sapient, there is no way to discern the veracity of the claim.

Realm[edit | edit source]

Constarnach is the ruler of the Plane of Air, an impossibly large space made up of skies and clouds which makes up a fourth of the Elemental Plane.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Arrogant beyond redemption, Constarnach is a haughty and bad-tempered deity, believing himself to be the greatest divinity in the Firmament. He adores being worshiped and spends much of his time in his personal abode, where lesser elementals fulfill his whim. When provoked, he becomes extremely combative and unleashes his full strength in combat.

Relationships[edit | edit source]

As he sees himself as the rightful ruler of the Elemental Plane, Constarnach wages war against his fellow elemental lords, who he sees as rivals. His most constant enemies are Vulcardentron and Tritonomarth. He treats outsider gods associated with air and wind as vermin and forbids them from meddling with his dominion at the threat of annihilation.

Cult of Constarnach[edit | edit source]

Constarnach is worshiped as the patron of all inhabitants of the Plane of Air.

In Telamon, spellcasters who dedicate themselves to wind-based magic may hold allegiance to Constarnach. Due to his adoration of being worshiped, the White God actively works to expand his cult in the Material Plane, though so far has not been too successful.
