The Cult of the Worm is the dark religion of Varagarash Narahil. A large-scale cult dedicated to the god of domination, it is primarily composed of individuals who have lost their minds and the demons they summon into the mortal world. Led by the undead sorcerer Tibias Marrow, the Cult seeks to turn the entirely of the world into cattle for their god, and free him from the bounds currently leaving him imprisoned in Irkalla.

History[edit | edit source]

The First Cult[edit | edit source]

The Cult of the Worm was first formed approximately 7,000 years in the past by ancient elven cultures who were tempted into following the dogma of Varagarash Narahil, believing it would bring them a new age of glory and domination. This cult lasted for two thousand years, where it worked in secret and opposed the religions of other gods through sabotage and heresy, though they were eventually discovered and exterminated to their last, presumably by the ancient Aurelians. The old cult left behind great quantities of books and other forms of research in demonic lore which were forgotten by time.

Rebirth[edit | edit source]

300 years in the past, the ambitious undead lord Tibias Marrow discovered the old home of the Cult of the Worm by accident, dwelling into their ancient lore and getting into contact with Varagarash Narahil himself, who indoctrinated him into obedience. Now deemed the new Master Apostle of the cult, Tibias used the knowledge he gained to begin tempting or brainwashing individuals across the world into his new religion, leading to the rebirth of the dreaded cult in the world. As he was once again worshipped by mortals in a significant capacity, many of Varagarash Narahil's shackles in his prison begun to break, alerting the demon lords of Irkalla that something had gone amiss in the mortal world, though they were too late to oppose the rise of the cult in any meaningful manner by that point.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Members[edit | edit source]

The Cult of the Worm is made up of all Narahileans - the worshippers of Varagarash Narahil. While many were brainwashed into serving the dark religion, there are others among their ranks who willingly joined it, either out of power-hunger, cruelty or desperation. As Varagarash is not concerned with what races worship him, the cult is made up of countless sentient individuals, most humanoids, who see each other as equals; they are all equal in the eyes of their god, who cares not for what worships him so long as they do it.

Goals[edit | edit source]

The Cult's ultimate objective is to break Varagarash Narahil out of Irkalla and allow him to breach into the material world, where he may rule the Firmament with them as his favored children. To do so, they hope to expand their influence enough to reach the point where they no longer require subtlety and use armies of loyal cultists and demons to force the world's nations into submission.

Relations[edit | edit source]

Worship of Varagarash Narahil is considered illegal in arguably the entire civilized world. The Cult are treated by most nations as terrorists and are not interested in working alongside religions linked to gods other than their own.
