Elemental Plane (Firmament)

From Bestiary of the Hypogriph

Template:Plane The Elemental Plane is the primordial home plane of the creatures known as elementals. It is considered the plane most intertwined with the Material.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Elemental Plane is a great expanse divided into four sub-planes, each representing one of the primordial elements: fire, water, earth and air. Due to the chaotic nature of these forces, these realms are typically quite hostile to mortal life. The borders between these planes are particularly peculiar, as they merge into a wide array of strange landscapes as a result of the elements clashing. At the very heart of the plane, where all four elements meet, a vortex of primordial energy pours into the rest of the Firmament, feeding it with the elements.

Inhabitants[edit | edit source]

Outsiders native to the Elemental Plane are called elementals, and serve as embodiments of the four primordial elements. Generally chaotic in nature, elementals are frickle and have an unusual morality compared to most mortals. The mightiest of such beings gain a small form of divinity and ascend into the demigods known as elemental lords, who rule over an entire sub-plane.

Mortals who worshipped an elemental lord in life may end up in the sub-plane of their patron upon death. Such souls tend to quickly transform into new elementals, losing most, if not all resemblance to their mortal lives.
