Sephinroth was a female warlock serving the Dungeon (generally representing the underground kingdoms of Nighon). In the entire world of Enroth, she was reportedly the first female warlock ever to bear that title.

She first appears in Heroes of Might and Magic III. Claiming to be the unrecognized daughter of the king of Erathia, Sephinroth is not content with just being the first (so far apparently only) female warlock, but also desires to take the throne of Erathia to herself.

Specialty

Unlike other repeated specialies, Sephinroth is unique eith the crystal specialty. This gives her kingdom +1 crystal per day.

The fanmade expansion (mod) Horn of the Abyss creates another crystal specialist in their custom new town, though this isn't canon.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV and retcons

Heroes 4 took a much more moralistic approach to the factions.

Most of the Heroes Chaos-alined heroes are bandits, thieves and farsants.

Consequently, Sephinroth was rewritten in her bio as an "scandalous woman" who deliberately set up her claim to Erathia as just an "attempt to blackmail" which she is now over with.

The fanmade campaign ignores these changes as they are inconsistent with her previous characterization and her "hatred".

Furthermore, the Heroes 4 ULTIMATE mod rewrites her bio in such a way to be back to consistency with the previous version.

Fanmade campaign

In the fanmade campaign in the works by NimoStar, Sephinroth explores all of the interesting main themes in her bio: Being the first female Warlock, her problematic relationship with her alleged father, and her stake to the throne of Erathia itself.

Tone and approach

These themes are explored through a series of tongue-in-cheek references to contemporary feminism and its currents, the battle of the sexes (of which there is already an Heroes III oficial map), and other subtler psychological undercurrents. The campaign, however, is designed to be able to fit into the Heroes III canon (at least without the expansions) and its overall world.

Mechanics

The unique mechanics of the campaign heavily feature Crystals, which are blood red and Sephinroth's specialty. This includes Crystal Dragons, the second strongest creature in the game.

Difficulty

The campaign is hard enough to present a challenge to experiences Heroes III players, but is casual in its overall approach. There is no emphasis on perfection or puzzle battles; rather, it is about performance and the exploitation of available resources, racing against time, and ocassionally the weakness caused by divisions between the various opponents.
