Incubus (Firmament)

From Bestiary of the Hypogriph

Template:Creature

Incubi are a species of male demon who prowl the realm of Irkalla and are heavily associated with carnal excess. Their female counterparts are the Succubus.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The true form of an Incubus resembles a tall, handsome and heavily-built Dark Elf man with a pair of curved horns growing from their foreheads, a pair of leathered wings growing from their shoulders and a black, pointed tail lashing out of their backs. No two Incubi are identical thanks to their shapeshifting nature, with each molding their appearance to suit their tastes and needs. The average incubus is 2,1m meters tall and weights 80 kg.

Ecology[edit | edit source]

Like most demons, Incubi are prolific across all of the realm of Irkalla. Large numbers of them congregate at the Halls of Passion, the lair of the demon lord Hamoilles, who is considered to be their queen.

Society[edit | edit source]

Incubi delight in defiling all that is pure and innocent, and make ample use of their shapeshifting and persuasive nature to encourage mortals into acts of sin. Compared to their Succubus sisters, Incubi value physical power more than pure deception and enjoy taking what they want through force. When not in battle, Incubi serve as counsellors, torturers, and companions for greater demons, though they are largely considered treacherous by others of their fiendish kind and as such, are rarely fully trusted.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Noted shapeshifters, Incubi have the ability to alter their form to resemble that of any humanoid comparable in size to themselves, often taking appearances considered appealing in order to tempt their prey. They are exceptionally strong, far more than their size might indicate, and often fight with the use of swords, whips or battleaxes wreathed in hellfire. Incubi possess a strong aura around them which compels weaker-minded creatures to surrender to their whim, which is often enough to cause the average man to lose the will to fight back against them.
