Features[edit | edit source]
The Metamorphic Chimeras are humans with the ability to transform. Even in their new transformed condition they able to speak and also have some use of the paws as hands. They also have the skill to transform into any animal that is part of their body, controlling a little the size in function of their standard size.
The weakening Metamorphic Chimeras only have two parts of animals (for example, a big hare with dear horns). The more number of animals include the Chimaera, the more will be recognized as powerful and influential in their assembly of metamorphic magicians. A Metamorphic Chimera can growth new animal parts with ageing or with specific event, usually traumatic or very stressful.
The best and superior among all the Chimeras are the Chimeras with five animal parts. They are sometimes called Dragons. They are very rare and usually very old and wise.
Two animals Chimeras are incredibly common, as three animals ones; four animals Chimeras are unusual but not rare.
The communities of Chimeras usually diverge so much in powers that they are grouped according to these subspecies. It is suspected that Metamorphic Chimeras of four and five elements are capable of performing powerful transport spells, so this would be the reason for their apparent shortage, reaching other different worlds.
In the Neshlspik Earth[edit | edit source]
In the Neshlspik Earth, for example, the Metamorphic Chimeras of six animals are common, generally composed of a draconid, a felid, a bird, a herbivorous mammal with fish characteristics. However, these Metamorphic Chimeras of six animals have forgotten their previous origin as human beings and can not be transform themselves except in each of the animals of which they are composed, although they do retain their intelligence.
The population of Metamorphic Chimeras of six animals (or Hexamorphic Chimeras) has increased over time producing numerous curious crosses. The crosses between different Chimeras were initially made by resemblance (similar herbivores, similar felines, etc.) but later the variety between the pairs was higher. The offspring do not occur in a strictly natural way, but they develop their characteristics based on the Essences of their parents and not a genetic code. Mysteriously, the crossing is very difficult between Chimeras of different number of animals.
The longevity of the Metamorphic Chimeras is not known, but some Aiwävuaklta think that their life could reach the sum of the life of each one of their parts, taking into account that a metamorphic deer can live hundreds of years. In summary, the Metamorphic Hexamorphic Chimeras could well reach two thousand or three thousand years, if not more.
Types of magic hybridization[edit | edit source]
The human wizards (or Metamorphic Chimeras) who first came to Neshlspik Earth knew perfectly the theory that regulates the magical hybridization through Essences, so they carefully made their preparations to be able to have offspring even when the knowledge of metamorphic magic was lost.
Thanks to the magical hybridization this could be done, recording in the Essences the key for a correct transmission to the descendants of the information related to the process itself. That is to say, they made sure that, whatever happened to the knowledge they had about the magical hybridizations and the Essences, these changes, necessary for the mixture of Metamorphic Chimeras, were carried out automatically.
The case of the magical hybridization of the Metamorphic Chimeras is something special, since although they are natural magical hybridizations, it is not so clear that they are not simple natural magical hybrids (in which independent parts of all the animals are conserved whose Essences they are mixed), nor of transforming natural magical hybrids (where the different appearances alternately appear). As already mentioned, Metamorphic Hexamorphic Chimeras had both characteristics (and even more): it is possible to guess which animal each part belongs to, and they can be transformed into each of these parts.
However, it is not a simple mixture of simple natural magical hybridization with natural transformative magical hybridization. The characteristics of the different animals are also mixed, following the categories (herbivores, felines, draconids, fish and birds), so that a Metamorphic Hexamorphic Chimera of a generation already fully seated in Neshlspik could have in its feline characteristics: white tiger characteristics, leopard, panther, etc. and equivalent mixtures in the other parts.
In addition, the transformation does not follow a recurrent pattern, but is at will. This can raise some eyebrows among those who study Essences and how they hybridize and the truth is that it is also in doubt that one can speak simply of "natural" magical hybridization, since it was the own Metamorphic Magicians / Chimeras that arrived at the Neshlspik Earth those who designed the process for which manipulations were produced automatically in the Essences. Maybe we should talk about a new kind of magic hybridization. Some intellectuals have advanced so much that they already begin to call this type of hybridization semi-natural magical hybridization.
Sagas[edit | edit source]
The Metamorphic Hexamorphic Chimeras have starred in a number of very famous epics between humans and the Yakawyujhsi (or Men-Beetle). Generally these bipeds are presented in these stories as national or even racial heroes, who seek to "clean" the surroundings of their cities (the South Cities) from "undesirable monsters", as they pretended to do with the Taikainu (enormous winged Hydras)[n 1].
The Hexamorphic Chimeras themselves knew about these sagas and, converted into draconids, small cats, birds or herbivores, stole the texts. Later, when reading them, they did not let their fury result in a massive attack against the Yakawyujhsi, but they took the text and changed what they considered necessary and the result was left in stories where the Hexamorphic Chimeras were giving lessons to the bipeds every time who were making an incursion.
Science[edit | edit source]
Despite the fact that the Hexamorphic Chimeras of the Earth Neshlspik forgot their human origin (or simply did not want to return to it), their knowledge is very deep. Thanks to their capacity for transformation they can observe the world like few other intelligent species 3. They collected their knowledge (zoology, botany, air currents, hydraulics, magic), in the so-called "Transformation Books". These "books" are really anything: a rock, a bamboo cane, a fault in the ground ... The contents of the "books" is written by Textures of Essences (Essences that can be physically manipulated), being able to be associated with anything that is close.
- 3: Having in mind the Milegu context this is only a poetic vision, because the number of creatures with much more capacities is overwhelming. Back.
Notes[edit | edit source]Notes are as fictional as the article's contents.
- The writing, diffusion and boom of the "Sagas of the Hexamorphic Chimeras" (Raxokurkak raeras piekarok in some bypedal language, "pýuuuher hyhet picenöklâk" in dussian), happened several centuries before the 78197, year of the Cycle of the Neshlspik Earth when the battle of the 23rd Yakawyujhsi regiment took place, so the expeditions against the Taikainu and other beings were still very daring.
