Tirsos, also known as the Great City, is a city-state in the southern reaches of the continent.

It is primarily populated by the Tirsosím, the red elves, who founded the city. Nevertheless, it is a diverse and bustling city, with a number of other sím, as well as many humans.

For millennia, it has been the most populous city of the continent, although presently it is only but a shadow of its former self.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The word Tirsos is clearly not of Sím (Borost)ic origin. If Tirsosi literature and legends are to be believed, the word originates from the language of the Draekar, where it purportedly means [shining] star. According to the Tirsosi mythos, Borost:Mandalos, a red dragon, commanded the primitive Tirsosím to settle the area, calling the location the future site of a "shining star" (Tirsos).

History[edit | edit source]

Early history[edit | edit source]

Despite the immense cultural heritage of Tirsos, the early history of the city-state cannot be traced with any amount of satisfactory precision.

According to the Tirsosím themselves, Borost:Mandalos, a red dragon, commanded the primitive Tirsosím to settle the area, calling the location the future site of a "shining star" (Tirsos). This, of course, cannot be verified, despite Tirsosi beliefs that Mandalos remains alive today and watches over their (and what they call "his") city.
